Hi, I’m Addison

I’m a professional counsellor and I’m dedicated to helping you to find clarity and peace of mind.

I initially became interested in counselling to find my own happiness. I had suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and needed to find peace and equilibrium. I studied professional counselling, psychoanalysis, clinical hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and neuro-linguistic programming and I found that peace and equilibrium. It’s within us all, not out there in the world. Now I’m dedicated to helping other to find theirs.

HOW WE WORK

Support Counselling offers an integrative counselling and psychotherapeutic approach that combines numerous scientific approaches to create individualised treatment plans that suit each person’s unique needs and personality. This offers the flexibility and adaptability to give you a truly personalised service.

It is extremely important that you feel safe, secure, listened to, understood, accepted, supported and validated. You will always be treated with respect and compassion. I work hard to create a genuinely non-judgemental and sensitive environment that provides the necessary foundation for your personal growth. Every person is unique and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.

That’s why we are skilled in a wide range of therapeutic techniques and trained in the integration and application of the following core approaches:

  • ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY – 100%

  • COGNITIVE-BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY – 90%

  • MINDFULNESS BASED CBT – 80%

  • ATTACHMENT THEORY – 70%

  • PERSON-CENTRED THERAPY – 60%

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

In the simplest of terms, counselling involves a lot of talking, connecting, exploring, sharing, thinking, feeling, and even laughing. It takes place in a safe, secure room with two comfy chairs; one for the client and one for the therapist. The client can use the time to talk about any issue that is causing them distress and the specially trained counsellor will help the client to explore their problem from new perspectives and find solutions. Counselling is safe, liberating and powerful… it can even be fun!

Counselling is for everyone. My clients are men and women of all ages, cultures and backgrounds. They come to therapy because they are struggling to process a painful life experience and want some professional support. They have good lives and positive relationships with their family and friends, but they don’t want to burden those people with their problems. Counsellors are trained to listen, understand, support and encourage you for as long as it takes for you to start feeling better. We will never judge you, get frustrated or lose interest. You will always be our top priority. We’re here to help.

Counselling can help you to gain control over your life and your happiness. It can teach you how to use your brain in new ways that make it possible for you to let go of distressing thoughts, increase positive feelings, and overcome destructive patterns of behaviour. You can use these new skills to improve your relationships, grow in confidence, and start living the life of your dreams. Despite what you may have been told in the past, there are very few mental health conditions that are permanent. Even conditions such as Bi-Polar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder and Drug Addiction can be entirely eliminated with the right kind of support. You are not broken. You’re just stuck. And with help you can change everything.

Each session lasts 50 minutes. Most clients choose to have counselling once a week, especially in the beginning when they need the most support. The total length of a course of counselling depends on each individual client’s needs and personal circumstances. Minor problems can be solved in as few as 1 – 6 sessions. Moderate problems take up to 12 sessions. Severe problems take 20 or more sessions. Many clients choose to continue having therapy for as long as they find it beneficial.

Yes, you definitely can. As a counsellor I’m accredited by ACCPH (Accreditation of Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists)  trained to the highest possible level and bound by the rules of its Ethical Framework and Professional Conduct Procedure.
